We are receiving word that the new webOS update will be considerably faster than what we are currently experiencing on the Pre. Ben Galbraith and Dion Almaer spoke a bit about changes made in regards to CSS transformation support.

speed

On ease of use, multitasking has been great; UI latency is still an issue even though the hardware is comparable to 3GS. The problem is the path to the GPU didn’t exist, but now with CSS transforms, that will be solved in the immediate future

We are hearing that the new webOS 1.3.1 update is going to be centered around speeding up webOS as a whole. Keep your fingers crossed because as is webOS has a bit of a problem with speed and response time. I often tap things a few times before getting any confirmation of a touch so I end up hitting the wrong thing repeatedly. Does anyone else want some added speed on their Pre?

Shure I want more speed. Palm Pre is way too slow and responsiveness on touch screen mobiles is the most important issue ever.

Before I even consider giving my iPhone (NOT S-version) for a pre, it absolutely needs a huge speed impact! The versions I’ve been seen in germany for now are slower than my Iphone 3G and that’s a no-go.

I love my Pre. But I would KILL for less latency. It can be d***ed frustrating sometimes. Most of my speed frustrations revolve around latency in button presses when ending calls, dialing numbers, or unlocking the phone. I’ve solved my battery life issues by purchasing an extended life battery, which made a world of difference for me. But, again, I love my Pre.

Exchange Email is Brutally slow. 15 – 20 seconds to open and sometimes a full minute before I can read them. When I delete a message, it can take 10 – 20 seconds before I can see the next message. 1.3.1 cannot be released soon enough.
