app-catalog-logoAbout a week ago Palm took the time to announce their new App Distribution Program designed to put the developers in the driver’s seat and set webOS ahead of other comparable handsets such at the iPhone by allowing more applications distribution options.

Back at the announcement we all were a bit blinded by the news that we all seemed to overlook a nice little tidbit way down at the bottom. We tip our hats to PreCentral Editor Robert Werlinger who gave it a read over and found that Palm has released “over 125 applications that have been downloaded almost 8 million times.

How did everyone look over this? Last time we checked back in August the App Catalog only had roughly 2.5 million downloads. Now if you factor all the homebrew app downloads this number is only pushed upward and onward. With only limited apps until now it looks like as the apps roll in these numbers will only grow at an even more rapid rate.
