Months ago we got the announcement that webOS will eventually get Adobe Flash support by the end of 2009. Nearing the end of the year we haven’t heard much as far as where they are in development until Adobe made the long-awaited Flash Player 10.1 announcement today.

First thing I am excited about it Flash-based video and web applications! It’s really nice to see Adobe really focus on webOS rather than just a brief mention in a list of operating systems. Adobe even created a video demonstrating Flash on the Pre for us. Flash is pretty well integrated into the OS giving us multi-touch support as well as orientation support.

Integration of Flash in webOS even allows it to save its current state while in the background to conserve battery and prevent overall slowdown. Developers who would like to be a part of the public beta testing of Flash 10.1 can sign up here to be notified as soon as it becomes available.
