We are now hearing that the GSM version on the Palm Pre will launch with webOS 1.1.3 rather than the new 1.2. This makes sense as the launch date being mid October makes the bulk of devices produced before the update was released.

Europe may not even see the newer webOS version till November. There is a forum post over at ppc-welt that suggests that these European Pres might even come loaded with 1.1.2 requiring you to update the handset to 1.1.3. It goes without saying that paid apps in the App Catalog in Europe is probably a long way off as a result.

I would hate to be over in Europe hearing about all of these things going on over in the US with the handset I have been dying to get. It would kill me to know that there are people out there with an updated version of my handset with more functionality and there is nothing I can do about it.
