WebOS climbing in mobile web share
| by Shawn Brown on October 1st, 2009 |
Given that Palm’s new webOS is so largely based on having a data connection it really doesn’t surprise us that the Pre is making leaps and bounds in the mobile web share. Palm’s webOS has gone from 0% of the total share to 4% in less than 5 months.

This is really big news considering other more well known mobile operating systems such as Nokia have lost around 10% of the share they held. The Pre is also making progress as it has hit the top ten list of smartphones and handsets in the US. The Pre has taken 7th in the top ten handsets and 4th in the top ten smartphone list proving it is a major contender.
With recent new phone announcements it will be interesting to see how Palm’s webOS progresses through this list. Will the other handsets make webOS loose its footing or will the Pixi help that share go right on up? We must keep in mind that there are a few Android-powered handsets releasing for every 1 webOS handset.
