The New York Times is saying that mSpot will be offering movie rentals on the Pre at a pretty costly price. These rentals are able to be viewed anywhere from 24 hours to 5 days after the movie is delivered.
I’m sitting here asking why rent movies on your mobile phone? Maybe like a 25 cent rental here and there is ok but renting a single movie for $4.99 is a bit much for me. This service is brought on by deals made with major companies such at Universal Studios, Paramount Studios and Weinstein just to name a few.
The Pre is already terrible on battery life, now add in downloading and playing a movie to all of that use, not a pretty site at all. Just how this will pan out is still to be seen but if they are indeed going through with it then there must be a large amount of faith and what they believe to be a good plan behind it. Who out there would pay $4.99 to rent a single movie on their Pre, Seriously?
