Pre kill switchWith the new webOS 1.2 we also find that Palm has included a safeguard to prevent any misuse. WebOs has a kill switch designed to terminate any application at any time that Palm may think is harmful or presenting unforeseen effects.

These days everyone has their own kill switch from Google with the Android OS and Windows with their to the Amazon Kindle kill switch that was found. There are many good reasons to have such a feature because some people just like to abuse every and all things but this could also put a damper on things for the rest of us had they started using it.

On one hand we have the fact that we shelled out in many cases hundreds to own this device and we in essence cannot load anything we want on it and customize it as we see fit, thus never really having true ownership of the device. On the other hand Palm is just protecting themselves and the service provider from things that could be really harmful such as an extremely data hungry application or even piracy.  Do you think companies should be allowed to monitor what can and cannot be put on your handset?
