GSM Palm Pre gets O2 dates and pricing

After a long waiting time we finally have turned what is said to be an Autum release date into a pinpointed day for the GSM version of the Pre. It looks like O2 will have the Pre exclusively available in the UK on October 16th just in time for . . . . . Halloween?

Many business partners of O2 will be offering the pre including Phones4U, Carphone Warehouse and a few others. Germany will be getting the Pre via O2 on October 13th with October 16th set for the United Kingdom and Ireland. Many of the European population will be able to score themselves a Palm Pre for nothing, that’s right no throwing down a cent towards the device.
Those who live in the UK can pick up a free Pre (gotta love how that sounds) on either a 24 or 36 month contract starting at £30.91 ($51). There are 5 different tariffs ranging from £29.38 ($48) to £73.41 ($120), all of which include unlimited data and Wi-Fi access.
In Germany you’ll only have to put down €1 ($2) to walk away with the Pre but you’ll have to pay the rest over 24 months at €20 ($30) per month. Germany will be getting the Pre with the recommendation that you at least get the €10 ($15) data plan or suffer the building data charges. You can also get the unlocked Pre contract free if you wish.
Ireland is offering 5 different 18-month plans that range from €40 ($59) to €100 ($148) per month. In Ireland the Price of the Pre ranges from absolutely nothing to €99 ($146) depending on the agreement. The plan that the free Pre comes with is limited to just 700 minutes, 250 texts, 25 MMS, and 1 GB of data. For those who have got to get more data in their life you are also allowed unlimited access to O2’s Wi-Fi hotspots.
