Wait For Palm Pre On-Screen Keyboard Almost Over
| by PalmWebOS.org on August 14th, 2009 |
When it comes to keyboards, the Palm Pre is much like the T-Mobile G1. It launched to TREMENDOUS praise as the first phone to sport a new mobile OS. The existence of a touchscreen AND sliding hardware keyboard made the masses drool. And then the complaints started rolling in that there was no on-screen keyboard when it would be so easy to include. Pre owners have been waiting since day 1 for this addition, and now they have an alternative option.
Sometimes if you want something done right, you’ve got to do it yourself. That’s why the guys at WebOS Internals decided NOT to wait for Palm to get their act together and instead MacGyvered their own software keyboard onto the Pre. They’re still working on the beta of the hackification but they’re encouraged that by the end of the month it will be more smooth and stable.
Of course if you want to install it you’ll have to do so at your own risk… and whether you like it or not, Palm might know what you did.

This is great! Palm probably has a touch screen that they are working on themselves though.
