It looks as if the UK version of the Palm Pre will launch on O2 with BBC iPlayer installed. Dave Whalen, Palm’s senior vice president of global sales, commented saying that it is well under way on UK-specific apps right out of the box. More info after the jump.

While Whalen could not give more detailed info about the release date he did say that Palm was looking for new partner apps to launch with the Pre. There will be new British partners as Palm is working very closely with Telefonica to figure out what application developers are needed to make the most “meaningful relevant apps available.”

Whalen never said if BBC iPlayer happened to be one of the partners but it’s a safe bet that Palm is pulling for it with the huge popularity and success on the iPhone and Nokia Nseries. Only time will tell with this one.
