Did you know the font used all across WebOS is a custom developed font that Palm made especially for their shiny new mobile operating system? With screen real estate being limited, having a small yet readable font – and one that is also extremely attractive to the eye – was of supreme importance. So instead of doing it themselves they relied on the experts at the Font Bureau:

More details about the development come from the font obsessed folks at typophile:

Prelude is an original sans serif design of simple, generous letterforms which provide a clear, comfortable, and inviting experience for navigation and readability. A family of six fonts was developed for the Palm Pre. A related set of fonts, named Apres, which are tuned specifically for use in print and marketing, were also developed by Berlow and the Font Bureau.

Pretty awesome right? I suppose we can expect this same font to be used in future WebOS phones and devices as well… and we couldn’t be happier about that.
