Palm Eos: $99 On Sprint and AT&T In November?
| by PalmWebOS.org on June 30th, 2009 |
If the rumors and speculation are true, we could see Palm launch the 2nd WebOS device for $99 (after contract and rebate) this November on both Sprint and AT&T. The Palm Eos (codename Pixie) is slated to be the WebOS replacement for the Palm Centro. And with low price point, powerful OS, 2.6 inch multi-touch display, 2MP camera and 4GB of internal memory – this thing could sell like hot cakes.
A holiday launch sounds right as Palm surely wants to continue momentum with the good thing they’ve got going and analysts are suggesting that target is right on:
And when will it arrive at market? No one seems to know, though Tavis McCourt and Justin Patterson at Morgan Keegan & Company speculate that we’ll see it sometime this fall. “We believe initial Pixie shipments will begin in the November quarter, although timing is still uncertain (we believe the goal would likely be a holiday launch),” the analysts wrote in a research note today.
While the Palm Pre was exclusive to Sprint, the Palm EOS is rumored to be free game with Sprint and AT&T both getting the device. It appears Verizon will be holding out for the Palm Pre in January or perhaps a third Palm WebOS phone.
I hope we don’t have to wait too long for a 2nd WebOS phone. More devices not only means more options for consumers but it means more units, more developer attention and a more robust App Catalog.
