I have owned my pre since it was first released by sprint & I must say it has been my most favorite mobile I have owned. There are a few things I wish palm would fix. 1 give google maps a history option so you could pull up previous serches. 2 to be able to cut & paste txt & copy pics from websites. 3 be able to chang the volume & ringtones to the different alerts ( ex txt msg & voicemail). 4 be able to fwd txt msg's. 5 be able to move files, pic & other data without having to hookup to a computer. Finally 6 a video camera. There are cell phones from 2 years ago that have a video camera.

When I click on UPDATES, it says "Checking for Updates" for about 1 minute, it will then show "UNABLE TO CONNECT. TRY AGAIN LATER".
It does this all the time.
The first day i got the phone I updated to 1.0.2 so all good there. It just wont connect.
I realize there are no other updates, but i don't think the default message is "unable to connect...".
Any ideas? I ran the "TEST" already. Nothing wrong.

You don't care that palm is forcing update on your phone? Isn't this my device to do with as I choose? I'm excited about the Pre, but letting some company think it has control over MY device... well, that's why I've never purchased an iPhone.

I'm okay with them forcing the update on you when your not using the phone or if you have ignored it for a week, I like updates, but will they force it on you if you have no wifi connection, forcing you to use the cell tower for internet if you have no subscription, giving you $100 phone bill? BTW, I'm in Canada so I'll be getting the phone through Bell.
