Palm WebOS Showcase Applications (Available At or Near Launch)
| by PalmWebOS.org on May 26th, 2009 |
Kind of strange that Palm hasn’t opened up the WebOS and Mojo SDK to all developers since the Palm Pre is only a couple weeks away from launch. Much of the platform’s vitality will be based on the applications available and to make applications, you need developers! Well an internal Sprint document has leaked that shows us a few of the options Palm Pre users will have in terms of applications on or near launch day:

They are listed as “Showcase Apps”:
- Pandora
- Electronic Arts
- SGN
- Craigs List
- Sling Media
- DirecTV
- MySpace
- Match.com
- Loopt
- City Search
- Zagat
- Fandango
- MovieTickets.com
- Lonely Planet
- FlightView
- NYTimes
- AP Mobile
- ESPN
- Handmark Stocks
- Bank of America
- Intuit
- Epocrates
- WebMD
- SalesForce.com
- Austin Lane
- DataViz
- Mark/Space
Many have been paying particular attention to the 5th listing… Sling Media. I can’t say I would be disappointed to see that app on launch day. I hope the folks at Palm know that if they want WebOS to be considered Open and Effective they need to hurry up and allow developers to develop on it because the 29 applications are cool and all… but the developers are starting to grow restless and the consumers are eager to know their options compared to Android and the iPhone.
