Sprint CEO: Expect Palm Pre Shortages
| by PalmWebOS.org on May 20th, 2009 |
Yesterday we asked you if you would camp out for the Palm Pre on June 6th. So far only ONE person indicated they would camp out for the Pre, but that could all change rather quick – Sprint CEO Dan Hesse has indicated they are expecting shortages of the Palm Pre in the early going:

Sprint’s Chief Executive Dan Hesse said at an investor conference that the company was expecting to have trouble meeting initial demand for the device.
“We don’t intend to advertise it heavily early on because we think we are going to have shortages for a while,” Hesse said according to a Thomson Reuters transcript. “We won’t be able to keep up with demand for the device in the early period of time.”
That is probably enough to change some minds… but Mr. Hesse knows that and it could be half of the reason he made the statement in the first place. Lack of supply stimulates interest/hype/buzz, often artificially inflating demand in the process.
So for those who thought they could nonchalantly stroll into a Sprint store on June 6th and just pick any Pre they please, think again. You might have to fight long lines, long hours and dramatic shortages on your quest to unsheath the PreXcalibur.
