It was once thought that BestBuy would be the exclusive 3rd party retailer of the Palm Pre and that rumor seems to have been debunked. In a Wall Street Journal article (subscription needed), executives discuss the discount retailer’s aspirations to boost electronics offerings. Including guess what? The Palm Pre.

With the recent shuttering of Circuit City, there is a lot of market share up for grabs for which Amazon, BestBuy and Wal-Mart are all fighting. If Wal-Mart can land the Pre, especially in the early running and obviously if it heads to Verizon, it will certainly help. I’m not sure a deal has been struck and Wal-Mart could just be working on putting the deal together, but this looks like it is already in the books.

So, Wally… when will you be getting said Palm Pre on your shelves?
