2nd WebOS Phone Rumored… Move Over Pre!
| by PalmWebOS.org on April 30th, 2009 |
We’ve been waiting impatiently for a few critical elements to emerge in regards to the Palm Pre: release date and price. It seems this impatience took our eye off the bigger picture. WebOS is the reason that the Palm Pre is so magical and there are destined to be more Palm WebOS phones than just the Palm Pre. And guess what was rumored today?
Michael Arrington from TechCrunch got this information from one of his “better souces”:
Palm is “very far along” on a second Pre-like device and currently has plans to put it on the market in the late part of 2009, possibly as early as the Fall.
Now THIS is exciting stuff ladies and gentlemen. It will NOT be another Palm Pre – that would be much too soon – this is a smaller device running WebOS that will likely set its target on a slightly different market. Arrington is calling it the “Mini-Pre” until further notice but I would expect Palm to come with an entirely new name. And if not, I think it would be the Pre Mini rather than the Mini Pre but hey, that’s just me.
Anyone questioning the credibility of the rumor need only look to January 4th when CrunchGear broke the news of the new Palm device. They were spot on about that and with a reputable souce we have no reason to believe this isn’t spot on as well. Furthermore, it just makes sense. The more WebOS phones the better. And by the way, this is exactly why we distinguish our site as “WebOS” related and not solely focused on the Pre.

I have been waiting for this and am very ready for a new phone. I really didn’t want to change carriers just to get the iPhone. Thanks PalmOS!
