Palm: All Release Date Rumors Are Wrong

While the entire universe is busy trying to parse the existing launch date rumors and decide which ones are the most plausible, Palm has stayed strict to their word of 1st Half of 2009… until now. A sudden departure from the company line was made on the @Palm_Inc Twitter account saying that all release date rumors to date have been flat out wrong:
Lets go through the release date rumors to date so we know when the Pre WON’T come out:
So while we can probably safely say the Pre will NOT be launched on one of the above dates, it could always be launched the day before or after any of these. Or even hours before for that matter. The fact is that the silence has been broken… and it was MUCH needed.
No, this does not give us much information. But yes, it does reinvigorate the talk/rumors/buzz about the Palm Pre without having to reveal too much. If ALL of our hard work is now a pile of mobile waste, what will the REAL release date of the Pre be?
In this frustratingly hilarious turn of events it seems Palm is playing Release Date Marco Polo… I like it.

I think you completely misread the tweet unfortunately. They are being snarky. They said “I can definitely say that all of the rumored release dates for Pre THAT HAVE ALREADY PASSED have been incorrect” … well duh.
Meaning that every anticipated release date before 4/23 are wrong… obviously… since we’ve already passed those dates and it is still unreleased.

Josh: I’m glad you caught that. I caught it also, but did not say anything since I figured PalmWebOS.org might know something that I didn’t know.
I like this web site quite a bit, but I’m relieved (as I’m sure they are as well) that they were mistaken!
I’m a crack-whore for the Palm Pre!!! I may have to enter a 12-step program! I have at least a half dozen web sites bookmarked that are dedicated to the Pre, and I visit EACH of them at least 5 or 6 times a day, praying for more info!

Most websites WOULD delete this post. I won’t… out of pure principle. I got it wrong. Completely wrong. I was awake for 30+ hours, skimmed, misread and plain and simple got it DEAD WRONG.
I’m willing to admit that and take the heat that comes with it. I think a lot of website owners run their sites pretending to be temples of infinite wisdom, giving out a “holier than thou” vibe that personally, I can’t stand. It’s pretentious, I hate it and I refuse to do it.
I got it wrong. I’m an idiot. Grill me. I deserve all of it.
