WebOS Early Access Program Kicks Off
| by PalmWebOS.org on April 9th, 2009 |
Last week Palm announced their early access program for WebOS developers using the Mojo SDK. With an overwhelming response of a reported gazillion applications – we appreciate the informality of Palm’s updated – the first two waves of developers have been let in.
We let our first batch of developers in late last week, and another batch early this week. These folks are getting started, and we’re taking their feedback and learning from their experiences as we work to get the SDK ready for the rest of the world.
So development begins! And it will be development of 3rd party applications that will allow Palm’s new handsets to complete on the mobile playing field. Sure, they’ve created an amazing piece of hardware with a (seemingly) equally amazing operating system. But how well the Operating System fits into the overall picture will largely be determined by developers.
The rolling out of the developer program will continue so don’t be upset if you haven’t yet been accepted. As Palm explained, it is impossible to let everyone in and they are trying to keep a controlled group of active developers in the early stages to nurse the platform through its early stages. We’re happy they’re being patient and taking the time to keep the community up to date.
We’ll keep you up to date as well!
