  74. 74. joshuaak wrote on May 12, 2009

My biggest problem will be getting a Pre too soon! I’m sure version 2.0 will have a lot of things we’re complaining about. i.e. no expansion slot, no indicator light, etc.

  75. 75. joshuaak wrote on May 12, 2009

speaking of which, i assume Pre will be firmware upgradeable? sorry for not searching the forums but i just thought of that while i was typing.

  76. 76. joshuaak wrote on May 12, 2009

  78. 78. William Laugherty wrote on May 13, 2009

I’ve been a Palm user since 1995. I currently use the Zire 72 everyday in my job and can’t imagine working without a Palm device. I never consolidated my phone and PDA before into a single device, but I’ve always wanted to. With the Pre I feel that the time is right. The Pre seems to be a no-compromise device. With a Blackberry the device was bulky and never seemed to have the right medical applications for my job. The iPhone came along, but it felt more like a toy than a work companion, and it lacked the QWERTY keyboard that speeds workflow with documents and texting. The Pre has it all – multitasking, keyboard, large display, good storage, convenient size and most of all, the Palm name. A name I have come to trust for ruggedness and a rock-solid OS. Congrats to Palm for their great creation. Count me in.

  79. 79. joshuaak wrote on May 18, 2009

every day I see Pre news i grow to hate my 700p more and more….

hopefully enough aftermarket accessory companies will attach themselves to the Pre so we have a variety of cases and whatnot

  83. 83. joshuaak wrote on May 18, 2009

  85. 85. joshuaak wrote on May 18, 2009

  86. 86. joshuaak wrote on May 18, 2009

the specs for the pre says it has a proximity sensor. Proximity to what? Other Pre’s?

  87. 87. joshuaak wrote on May 18, 2009

Will a 1200mAh battery be enough? i haven’t seen any expected usage stats yet but i’m sure it’ll be comparable to the iphone. running all those apps at the same time is bound to use a lot of juice.

  88. 88. joshuaak wrote on May 18, 2009

I’ve also read that if you don’t use the Touchstone, you use the micro usb to charge the Pre. But when plugged in it automatically goes to usb host mode and calls go right to voicemail. So if i don’t get the touchstone and i want to charge the pre overnight will i never be able to accept calls at night?

3 days to go. i wonder if the Radioshack in the rinky dink town i live will carry enough, if any.

I wonder what Palm’s turnaround will be on the Pre 2.0? there’s already a score of criticism over the Pre and most of it won’t be too hard for Palm to tweak for the next version.

  127. 127. joshuaak wrote on June 4, 2009

hoave you seen the Pre review at Engadget? it’s pretty extensive. makes me one one right now.

  128. 128. joshuaak wrote on June 4, 2009

a lot of people are griping about the keyboard. they shouldn’t be surprised at the small keys, it’s a small phone! i have to wait to see for myself though.

  129. 129. joshuaak wrote on June 4, 2009

has anyone seen the Pre commercial yet? i haven’t but i hear it’s intense. Somehow Palm’s dona a great job of sneakily advertising this whole time and now just releases real ads just days before the release.

  130. 130. joshuaak wrote on June 4, 2009

if they put a bottle opener on it it would be perfect!

  131. 131. jccastanfield wrote on June 4, 2009

It looks as though the keyboard is as small as the centro, I hope it’s not any smaller

  132. 132. jccastanfield wrote on June 4, 2009

I would love to see the Pre’s commercial and see more about the phone

  133. 133. joshuaak wrote on June 4, 2009

the 3.5mm jack it a nice touch. i can ditch that lousy adapter i’ve had for my 700p.

My husband and I are really ready for our own Pre!

  136. 136. joshuaak wrote on June 4, 2009

Palm has already released a firmware update. I guess they’re taking the preliminary feedback seriously. That’s a very good sign.

  137. 137. jccastanfield wrote on June 4, 2009

The shape of the Pre looks to fit in a woman’s hand nicely

  138. 138. joshuaak wrote on June 4, 2009

Pre’s camera has gotten some great reviews, especially in the software aspect. Palm has done away with the crappy lag time on the Treo apparently.

  139. 139. jccastanfield wrote on June 4, 2009

The desktop charger is awesome.. two phones in the house this will help keep the number of electric cords down

  140. 140. joshuaak wrote on June 4, 2009

Reading reviews just makes me want to play with it already! the hardware reviews are easy enough to understand, but i’m having a had time with the ‘gestures’ reviews. I guess i’ll just have to wait until the 6th!

  141. 141. jccastanfield wrote on June 4, 2009

I look forward to the new camera… decreased lag time will be great!

  142. 142. jccastanfield wrote on June 4, 2009

    New colors coming anytime soon?

  143. 143. jccastanfield wrote on June 4, 2009

  152. 152. joshuaak wrote on June 4, 2009

they’ve done away with the Palm desktop, i think it’s all via the web now. Not too sure how i’m going to get all my memo’s on the Pre. I have a lot of good stuff in there!

  153. 153. joshuaak wrote on June 4, 2009

the Synergy looks like it needs a lOT of work. i don’t want ALL of my Facebook friends dragged into my contacts.

  154. 154. joshuaak wrote on June 4, 2009

does anyone know how to sync Google contacts and Palm desktop? It seems like i’m going to need all my contact in Google to get them onto the Pre.

I currently have the Samsung Instinct and I am beyond displeased with it. This is also my second one since I had to replace it via insurance program available through Sprint. The replacement is far worse in the amout of “bugs” the system has. Since I have had this phone, there has been nothing but problems and glitches which plaugue the potential promise possible. In my search for an equal or just to have an I-phone, I had hoped that this might be the final solution. I was very wrong. Hopefully, from what I hear about the palm software and technology with this phone could be the solution.

I currently have a balckberry curve which I am very unhappy with. It is the second one I have owned, the first one I had issues with so I had it replaced. The second one is now having problem and I have only had it for 6 months. The blackberry freezes up on me all the time to which I have to take the battery out just for it to work again, also i will charge it all night and a hour later the battery will die. Before this phone I had a Palm Treo and Loved it, but it had its wear and tear.
