Palm Pre Launching April 30th?!?!?!

Twitter truly is becoming a nice little information goldmine and the latest nugget to be picked from the pile could get a person or two or three fired. If the recent twittering of a supposed Palm Pre beta tester is authentic, then the Palm Pre is set to launch on April 30th!

April 30th? APRIL 30TH! That’s only a month away would absolutely CRUSH most predictions of a late June release!

After doing some research, this all appears to check out and be 100% legit. Who is this “Jim Van” guy? I Googled him and it appears he is the CEO of a company called Logicomm. The Providence Business Edge interviews of him here, he comments on the interview on the a website from the Rhode Island Economic Development Corporation here, and his twitter account uses the identical picture and company name. The only possibility here is that this Twitter account is an imposter of the real Jim Van.

But this is the real Jim Van. Just check out his profile on Rinexus, the site from the Rhode Island Economic Development Corporation where he gave the interview. On that same site, a Jim Van comment discloses his twitter account… the same one that outs the launch date of April 30th!

Yes, sir… it is an AMAZING soapbox and we thank you for standing on it. Now the only thing standing in the way of us and the Palm Pre is a solid month and the hope that whoever at Sprint told Jim Van that April 30th was the day was absolutely right!

How solid is that April 30th date? That’s what Keith Newman asked him:

Apparently Jim Van is pretty darn convinced that April 30th is the day:

Pencil it in guys… April 30th. By the way I’d like to point out that Jim Van is my new hero. Not only because he gave us this date because he will NOT get fired like I insinuated might happen at the beginning of this article. He is the CEO so unless he fires himself… the worst he can do is lose a contract. But at least he’ll have the Pre on April 30th!

Oh wait… he already has it. Jim Van is a God.

Update #1: Unless this is a big scam, then he is scum. We will update you and let you know which…

A God? I dunno…the person who told me @sprint was rather low-level, tho they seemed pretty matter of fact about it.

Now, do I get tarred and feathered if they hold off till June?

BTW-the little I’ve been able to play with it (I seem 2 be spending a lot of time on Twitter all of a sudden…), I love it as much as I loved my old Palm III back in its heyday. These guys got it right, IMHO. Of course, it still needs to withstand a bunch of my mishandling….

There is tons of good info, from what I’ve seen, out there via a little Google mastery. It’s amazing the hype this thing is creating!

hey! awesome research and very detailed. I appreciate u looking into jim’s info and that jim responded to it quickly and kindly even if we are driving him crazy about the pre :) I don’t doubt that jim’s legit but i’ll continue to wonder if the info about april 30 will turn out to be true. if it does turn out to be true, no complaints from me :) as for his info on the price, I’m still hoping the price will be less than 299 with contract. that’s gonna be pretty steep espcially considering the 8gb iphone is 199. thanks again jim for keeping us informed! I hope u won’t get annoyed too much about the nay sayers and just know that u are appreciated.

He did not say it would be released to the public. He said it was released. That could mean from his contract, from the beta test team, or released to manufacturing.

It means, from the time it goes final from testers, to the time it hits stores, is most likely going to be 90-150 days.

We won’t see the Pre on shelves until July.

I am waiting for pre first day on the market I have a storm and not happy with it!

I don’t want to pay another month Verizon is pricey I have tried the 900 min route and that is not working with Sprint
I can enroll with all in one package and still pay less!

    so Hurry!

I went to the LOGICOMM web site, and I decided to call Mr. Van. The web site looks cheap, so I had doubts that the CEO of this company would know anything.

    Call Us: 401.354.2220

THE NUMBER IS INVALID… FOR THIS REASON I SUSPECT STRONGLY THAT THIS IS A HOAX.
