Sprint has exclusivity on the Palm Pre here in the United States, but the hotly anticipated phone WILL launch in global partners and no carrier has been announced as a global partner thus far. But Spanish media is now reporting thta Telefonica has secured the rights to offer the Palm Pre not only in Spain and the UK (operating as O2 in UK) but also as the brand Movistar in Latin America.

Vodafone, who recently obtained exlusive rights to the Android based HTC Magic, was rumored to be in on the hunt for the Palm Pre. Vodafone also has the BlackBerry Storm exclusive deal so this prevents a pretty powerful hat trick for taking place.

Noteworthy also is that the Latin America Pre has 850/1900MHz 3G connectivity. And stepping one stone to another, it could mean unlocked versions of the precious Pre would be available for use on AT&T in the United States. But that’s a bit of a stretch at the moment… we’ll cross that bridge when we get to it.

Why doesn’t verizon wireless get on board and sell the pre.

I spoke to some reps from O2 the other day and we were discussing the Pre. We were talking about exclusivity and with the knowledge that Vodafone have previously had the exclusivity with Palm devices, the release of the new Palm Pro was seen exclusively on O2. They were quite confident that the Pre would see it’s way to O2 which for me would be a dream come true.

I am keeping a very close eye on all this…. hope Palm don’t keep us waiting too long for an update.
