There is confidence. There is cockiness. There is swagger. But I’m not sure any of them describe what primary Palm Investor Roger McNamee said in regards to the Palm Pre and Apple iPhone. Read it for yourself:

“You know the beautiful thing: June 29, 2009, is the two- year anniversary of the first shipment of the iPhone….  Not one of those people will still be using an iPhone a month later.”

At least that is what he reportedly told BloomBerg News. Now don’t second guess us… we ABSOLUTELY LOVE what Palm is doing with the Pre and WebOS but that’s a pretty bold statement to make. When you make a statement like that, your device better be pretty flawless or you better prepare to get pummeled by the court of public opinion.

The relationship between Palm and Apple is already on shaky ground if you remember the spat about patent infringement. This will surely add fuel to the fire… he pretty much declared the Palm Pre more than an iPhone Killer… more like an iPhone Extincter. Take that!

IMHO people need to stop purposefully comparing themselves to the iPhone. It never does any good. Of course, even bad press is good press, they say. Perhaps any talk of the iPhone fuels interest in the device and inherently, sales.

I can’t wait for the iFanboy videos to come out on YouTube. iPhone in hand, showing it off in front of the screen, “Roger McNamee is a LIER. I have an iPhone- is one person more than zero people? YES! PALM SUXORZ!”

And thus is the main reason I hate the internet.
